You may find the AIDKA web site useful as it has the Rules of Racing as a guide. Please note that the web site Rules don't appear to be up to date but will give you an idea on the specifications for each of the classes. www.communitywebs.org/~AIDKA/Rules.html

the rules have not been updated to include the kt100sec only has kt100se and in twins you can use the arc electric start bottom end while the rules do say that no clutches to be used in kt the kt100sec does not come with a clutch and the electric start part can be removed.

don't do anything about clutches until after the 14 august it is our rule change meeting and there is a question concerning the use of clutches which was resloved but not acted upon for some reason in kt class. currently kt100sec can not be used under the rules as is, this too may change

I'm in the process of getting back into the KT class, and after carefully reading the rulebook, it seems to me that the ruling for KT class isn't very clear on this issue.
The exact wording for KT says that you can only use a "single KT 100s piston port engine only as manufactured by Yamaha with standard external appearance (no left hand conversions) from carburettor inlet to barrel exhause outlet. ...."
You haven't been able to purchase a new Yamaha KT100S for close to 20 years, the "current" yamaha that looks similar to the original 'S' is the KT100SE, and if you go to most kart shops that's what you will get.
If most people are getting away with running a KT100SE, then i don't see why you can't run a KT100SEC ? or for that matter a KT100SP which is what i will be playing with. The SD and SE have considerably better head cooling capabilities than the original yamaha KT100S, and the SP is the next step forward.
I guess that's one of the rules that needs to have an "intent" attached to it.
