2011 ADKC Classic Set To Be HUGEThe announcement from the ADKC progressive committee has confirmed that in 2011 the club will host one of the biggest events in dirt karting with the ADELAIDE DIRT KART CLASSIC set to be staged on March 26th & 27th 2011 ( subject to the V8 Supercars Clipsal 500 date being announced). The inaugural two-day event created with the aim of bringing professional and prestige to the dirt karting ranks while offering good value for money and increasing laps but most importantly a great time for the family. With the aim of hosting the event annually the 2011 program will consist of four heats on Saturday with racing beginning in the afternoon and continuing under lights while the pre-finals and finals will be run on the Sunday with racing scheduled to finish early enough for the visiting country racers to return home at a reasonable hour. The event will see a new format used with the first driver across the line the actual winner NOT the usual all points count system. Points will be tallied from the 4 heats to determine grid positions for the pre-final with the finishing positions in that race deciding the grid positions for the winner take all final for all classes. This aspect should make the finals a much more exciting prospect for the crowd to watch and understand as the drivers do battle for the “Bigger than Ben Hur” trophies and the right to have their photo displayed in the clubrooms “Wall of Fame”. An on track DJ has been sourced to keep the upbeat nature of the event rocking while drivers will form up on track for introductions prior to the final and each class winner will be given the chequered flag for a lap of honour prior to greeting our celebrity guest announcer for comment and celebration photos. “With longer heat races and a pre-final determining the final starting positions and longer final events it will provide an opportunity for racers to keep moving forward without the need for desperate moves” explained Vice President Dwayne Ames. “It will be like nothing ever seen at a dirt kart event – it’s going to be wild” an excited Ames continued. Book this one in on your 2011 racing calendar and keep an eye on this site as when more information is available future updates will be released. Adelaide Dirt Kart Club “Where families WIN together”

As expressed in the other thread about this event this meeting seems to be a replacement for the REAL nationals being held in WA. Really hope it doesn't stop anyone from coming over.

With the average racer being on a tight budget there is no point going over to WA unless you are in for a chance of winning Aus #1. I will be kept away from the Aus Title because of distance not because of this meeting.... This won't effect numbers at the title as people who have planned to go will still go.
I have heard that about 20 karts are coming from the Adelaide club alone so this is not keeping people away.

Why it it still advertised as the "Nationals" on the website? Maybe because they have to redesign all the logos and stuff that takes time who knows/who cares its just a name.

"Adelaide Classic" is an excellent name and one only has to research the definition of "classic" to know that it isn't for the old drivers.
...of the first or highest quality, class or rank...
I don't know if the name change is official but if so the club has made a good decision in moving away from the "Nationals". If the ADKC presents the event they have forecast the "Adelaide Classic" is sure to become the annual premiere dirt karting event attracting competitors from throughout SA, NT and WA.
Well done ADKC...

On the nomination form it states a copy of current licence is to be sent with nomination. As I've not yet received my licence should I wait until it arrives or can I still nominate without it? I've heard from others that they've nominated already? ?? Thanks

“THE CLASSIC” PLANNING STILL GOING ONThe dynamic committee is continuing the huge effort to plan and organise the biggest event ever held at the Adelaide Dirt Kart Club since moving to Speedway City some 6 years ago. With racing under lights on the Saturday night this will assist to improve the racing and the atmosphere will lift to a new level once the sun goes down. The exciting new format will also enable any bad luck or misfortunes from the heat races to be corrected with the opportunity of a “B Main” and the “Dash Races” to improve the all important starting position closer to the front row so your chances of winning won’t be over until the finals double chequered flags. So there is now only just over 2 weeks to when nominations will close for the “Inaugural Adelaide Dirt Kart Classic”, so don’t miss this event or you will have to wait 12 months for the next big one. So come to the party and watch a race breakout! See ya trackside!
