Most racers seem to be using a 'STANDARD' looking type exhaust system, but, some seem to be using a variety of systems. I know that 2 stroke pipes make a difference to power(or where the power is delivered), so, which pipes are best? IS the standard looking pipe best for a good spread of power throughout the rev range or is it the most common by cost? I've got an expansion chamber with a thin link pjpe then a muffler to try on my KT100s but before I give it a try I would like to know what to expect. Looks good (different ) if nothing else. What do you use? What have you tried?

Maybe Tom might spread so light in the issue. My mate tried my large style exhuast and he said if was CRAP so I guess it is how your kt is porter and setup as he runs a brown motor.....

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by expansion chamber, then link pipe, then muffler.. Sounds like what we used to have to use with AKA racing. The muffler curled around and faced back towards the engine. The muffler was only ever in place for noise reasons, and wasn't a performance improver. If that's the type you have, you would be better off finding what type of expansion chamber you have, and getting a standard end-cap to match.
Expansion chamber trends change like the wind. Almost the entire time i ran KT's i used the standard yamaha muffler. I have tried dozens of pipes, but by the time you try to optimise the engine to suit the different muffler, it gets frustrating and expensive (very). Especially if you end up where you started.
If i was to race KT's again now, i'd look around and see who is winning races, and simply get the same pipe they have.
I am certain there are other areas of the KT that are far more important to overall performance than the expansion chamber.
Good luck with your experimentation though, and remember, if it looks cool enough, no-one will care if it's fast or not!

the stinger's can make a difference when designed into the pipe design, the one's on the old aka pipe's was there for the muffler's lol. just cause those pipe's all look standerd dont mean they are the same
