Just wondering if anyone has some tricks up their sleeves for the 2010 season.. I have been out of action for a while, so for me it's a matter of finding the kart under all the junk and dust in the back corner of the shed and getting it to start!
I'm sure there must be some new gear, chassis, motors or something else that is out there waiting to set the world on fire.
Let us know if there is anything new we should be looking out for this year!

Lightning have a new range of side pod bars coming out see picture below: In theory this should make your kart flex more.... Whats you opinion? Are they worth a try?

Tom I am doing the same. Had last year off so I expect to be rusty. Cant wait to try the fireball out for real. Only run it once before at a private track against some J's so don't know too much about it yet.
As for tricks up my sleeve. Getting organized before a race meet would be a start for me, instead of last minute.
As for them side pod bars. In theory it works. But I know from experience with bars like that it don't take too much for a pod to get crunched or split by having no bar through the middle to support it a little when it cops a whack.
Maybe worth a try if they are cheap and you can use the existing holes in your pods for a quick change. Or just loosen your pod Bars off a bit and you would probably get a similar effect

I used sidepod bars like that when i was using bitumen frames on the dirt.. It does loosen up the waist of the chassis compared to full length bars. I never had problems with strength in the pods (using the old style square pods).
Burris frames also used that system. If you think your kart is too stiff across the waist i reckon it's worth a try.

Wouldn't the side pod bars be weak, if somebody hits you wouldn't they bend?? If anybody runs these can they shed some light on the issue.

I used to run a very similar set-up with side pod bars, and gave them a very good workout. I didn't find a problem with strength. I've always been reluctant to try the newer style side-pods for the same reason, but they also seem to be strong enough.
