Caruso Looking To Defend Titles
Author : CMA Racing
Throughout the 2008/09 speedway season Mark Caruso was among the pace setters in the 360ci Sprintcar class in South Australia and with the new season fast approaching he is hopeful that he can duplicate his performances once again during the 2009/10 season.
During his outstanding 2008/09 summer season Mark captured the Revolution Racegear Speedway City Track Championship along with the Sprintcar Competitors of South Australia Club Championship. In addition to his points championships Caruso actually claimed a total of 4 main event victories in his black and silver CMA Recycling #33 Cool chassis which included a dominant display at the 2009 Speedway City 360ci Sprintcar Easter Cup.
Along with his four feature race victories he claimed a further seven podium results including runner–up results at the South Australian Championship at the Murray Bridge Speedway, The City of Playford Lord Mayors Cup at Speedway City and at the 360ci Sprintcar event at the Broken Hill Speedway in New South Wales. In fact Mark actually completed the season with an average feature race finish of 2.2 from his 13 completed A-Main starts.
“We had a fantastic season. We had a lot more success than I expected. The 360ci Sprintcar class in South Australia is very tough so anytime you can win a championship you know that you have a great year. Next season I would love to defend my titles but now that the 360ci engine rules have changed we may look at doing a few of the All Star Series rounds interstate but it will depend on the dates” commented Mark recently.
Unfortunately the one meeting that Mark failed to make the podium at was the 2009 Australian Championship at Murray Bridge but a fifth placed result was still a great effort for the 26 year old. “That is one race I would really love to win. But at the moment the venue hasn’t been released so we are not sure if we will compete at that race or not. If the race is close to home there is no doubt that we will give it a real crack” added Mark with great enthusiasm.
Mark Caruso would like to thank the following Corporate Partners for their involvement in the 2008/09 Sprintcar season:
