2 Strokes are better2 stroke have more lower end power and 4 stroke have more maitenence with oil. 2 strokes have their oil already in the fuel and that gets ride of the hassel of changing oil. ;D The Mechanic Knows

- 4 strokes are better because the power is more user friendly.
- In America 2 strokes are going to be banned for pollution levels rising.
- Europe has already banned 2 strokes.
- Most motorbike companies don't produce 2 strokes so either way I say 4 strokes are better.
Soon we will have no choice but to use 4 stroke motors in all motor sports.

>:(WHAT YOU SAID IS UNTRUE Two strokes have not been banned in Europe or the US. The new KF1 and 2 classes are all two strokes. Four strokes are used in motorbikes but will not see any real introduction into karting for at least another five years. The current motors are homoligated with the CIK for five years and all research and development is towards faster more cost effective two stroke motors. To answer your question no four strokes are not better than two strokes only different. The USA are using the briggs and stratton engine in some classes but the WKA (World karting association) use the Rotax Max 125cc Two Stroke engine for its main classes. The US also promotes shifter kart racing which uses once again a two stroke 125cc engine with gearbox. Well thats it. Please get your facts straight before posting comments as this effects kart shops..........

Okay.......... No Need to start an arguement. We get the picture 2 strokes and 4 stroke shouldn't be compared because they are two different type of engines.

Please Don't get off topic.
2 strokes are different engines and have many different strengths and weaknesses. They can be compared but it doesn't have to turned into an arguement.
Please Don't Start an Arguement

UPDATE I have found out that Europe is starting to ban 2 stroke lawn mowers and some other small vehicles. This will not come into Australia for another 5 or so years. This rule hasn't even passed as a law so >Joseph<>10<. Please get your facts right before posting. Regards Admin

Two strokes came to the fore in Moto Cross years ago because of the power to weight ratio. These days the new breed of four strokes are not much different in weight compared to two strokes.
Take a visit to your nearest Moto X event and have a look what they are all now riding and you won't see many two strokes, other than in the kids classes.
In some classes the two stroke can be higher engine capacity than a four stroke. This is because of the power being generated.
