I'd like to hear from other people about their experience in removing the front sprocket from the clutch hub on the leopards..
I've found that no matter what sort of hex key i use, the 3mm isn't enough to turn the screw out. It either destroys the bolt, or the hex key (or both) Doesn't seem to help if i use heat or CO2.
I now mill off the heads of the 3 bolts, lift off the sprocket, and remove the thread with vice grips.
What's the easy way of getting this job done ?

Hi Tom, First think dont loctite the srews in. The easiest way to remove them is with the hub off the kart and if they have bount up give them a couple of short hits with a hammer. ;D

That's exactly what I do as new front spockets come with the three bolts. If their is an easier way I dont really know but I do it the same way as you Tom.

Cheers guys.. I use the bolts that come with the sprocket and they have micro-encapsulated thread sealer on them already. The last one i put on with never seize on the countersunk part, so i'll see how that goes. (If you're following me at the next Adelaide meeting watch out for the front sprocket to fly off.. lol)
I always take the clutch drum off the kart to change it in any case, i have tried an impact socket before, but it twisted the 3mm allen key! I'll try just cracking them with a hammer next time.
Thanks for the ideas.

I have just completed my first 125cc front sprocket change. Using the tips suggested, I had no troubles at all. Couple hits with the hammer to each of the bolts, put the sprocket in the vice and used a long series allen key. Worked a treat.

Ive some times had this same problem with the leapord sprockets - however not always.
What i do is keep a centre punch and a hold punch in my tool box. When you have the clutch hub off give each screw a decent hit on something solid with the centre punch. Then proceed to remove the screws. If the screws then do not come off - i get someone to hold the hub and use the centre punch to knock the screws loose by hitting outside of the hex area of the head on an angle. This works perfectly every time.
