Hi im looking for some info about 125's and are just wondering what the main differences are between these two besides about $400
is there anything that makes one a better motor than the other? just that you dont see many fireball engines out there

Fireball is made in Japan or something and Leopard is top european quality.

I can answer that one pretty well for you..
I've got both motors, (i used to have a rotax as well!)..
Ultimately i think the speed is quite similar, i have finished 2nd in the first 2 meetings of the year in 125cc Heavies at Adelaide with the Fireball engine.
The Fireball is designed in Australia by St. George Kart Centre, and made under licence in Tiawan. Parts are much less expensive than for the Leopard.
In my opinion the best thing about the Fireball is it's simplicity, there is no fancy ignition or modules, just a CDI ignition which is adjustable. It also has no rev-limit which is good on some tracks.
Downside of the fireball is a number of reliability issues, if you are a beginner with a fireball i recommend talking to someone that has run at the front of the field to get an idea of how to look after it and set it up..
There have been 3 major upgrades of the fireball since it's inception.. Once again unless you are sure of what you want, make sure you get the latest upgrade. (ring St. Gerge to verify you are getting an '09 motor) Very important that you get the latest fully machined con-rod if you want to rev it over 16,500..
I like the horstman clutch, in my opinion this is by far the best 125cc clutch around.. It is no longer fitted as new, but can be retro-fitted under the current rules (although it is expensive).
If you need any more specific info. let me know ?
Cheers.
