I need some help or useful tips please. My kart and I are about 152kg with me being 90kg and this putt's me in KT Med (140 kgs) but in the heavy end of the field. I need to add 8 - 10 kg to put me into the KT Heavy’s, can anybody give me some advice on where to get the weight and the best place to mount it. Thanks in advance.

The best spot to add weight in my opinion would be under your seat. This doesn't throw out the balance of your kart and the weight would act in the same way if you were ten kilo heavier. Also when you weight your kart you should be atleast 1 or 2 kilograms over to cover for fuel loss.

Thanks Karterdude that is a great help. If I was to drink more beer I would not need to add so much weight, too bad I'm over weight allready.

The weight thing actually leads me to one of the best tips i've received about setting up your kart..
If you need to add >5kg's, you can use this as a tuning tool. A lot of people never experiment with moving their seat, and this is probably the most important part of setting up your kart.
When adding weight, firstly put the entire weight on the rear of your seat. If you think this improves the handling of the kart, then move your seat back 20mm. Keep fine tuning like this until you feel the kart has too much understeer (or pendulum), then you will be sure your seat is in the right position.
Another good idea is to make a bracket on the bottom mount for your steering column that can have your weight bolted to it. If the track goes black you can take the lead off the rear of your seat and put it on the front of the kart, this will help the kart on the grippier surface.

Here is a radical thought...when you say you are 90kg is that a well toned 90kg or carrying some extra padding.... If it is the latter...have you considered trimming up to get back down in the KT Medium class weight zone? Food for thought...excuse the pun...*smile*
