Let's assume you've got yourself well and truly organised and have actually purchased a kart and motor appropriate for the class that you're racing in. You've joined the club, got your licence and have current ambulance travel cover (let's hope you don't need it - did you read the section called "First Day Karting" on the "How to Get Started" page?). Now comes the big day, the stomach is churning and you've hardly had any sleep. It's easy to forget a few very important items so here's a little checklist that you might want to use.
1. Have you got your kart in your car or in your trailer? Is your trailer attached to your car? Very important if you want to race unless you're going to spectate for the day!
2. Your licence (you'll need this for the safety check and the nomination secretary) or have you organised for it to be collected at the club? Remember, you can't race without your licence in hand.
3. Your racing suit.
4. Suitable boots and gloves.
5. Approved Helmet with visor.
6. Plenty of tear-offs - and have you got those little screws on the visor for your tear-offs and made sure everything fits?
7. Neck brace - strongly recommended especially for juniors.
8. Fuel - karts don't go far without it.
9. All those tools and spare parts we mentioned on our "How to Get Started" page.
10. Your wallet! You'll have to pay to get in and then there's the nomination fees and your lunch once your stomach has stopped churning!
11. A smile - remember you're out there to have some fun so enjoy yourself!
