It was brought up at the drivers meeting last saturday night by the chief steward about the possibility of starting later more inline with pre day light saving time because of the direct sun light being a visibility problem when racing anti clockwise as per first rounds for night. I for one would fully support such a change for a couple of reasons with the exception of the January Speedway night because of the large numbers racing at this event. It is not just a safety problem it may also help attract more spectators who may be willing to come out but not early if it is hot there is no shaded areas where people can get any relief from sun. I definitely hope this is considered and brought up at the AGM (and does anyone know the date for AGM).

The problem with that Brenton is the fact that people have to travel back to Adelaide or further , so I dont think its fair for us to finish a race meeting at 11pm then have to drive 2hrs or so to get home. We usually get at least 1 or almost 2 rounds done before dusk, and its a good time to have tea then anyway in my opinion. Finsh at around 10pm then at least most people would be home before midnight. Sure it would be better to start later for us locals and for spectators, but its not just us we have to please or think of.
Exactly 50 noms this week and the weather will be brilliant, so it should be a good night again!!

Hi Haydn There are good points to both argument. I would like to see this discussed at our agm which has to happen soon because of not having one for two years. I would like to see all members views on it , it may be a case of reversing the starting direction of the first two rounds as happened at the speedway meeting this year to alleviate the sun issue of driving directly into it on the main straight. The club I feel must also do something to attract spectators as well as competitors, spectators contribute to the financial well being of the club as do competitors it is a case of needing both. Competitors do nominated for night meetings knowing that it maybe a late night because of the unsurity of numbers nominated and the amount of classes being run.
It is looking to be a good night will see there Brenton

Yep running clockwise first up would be worth a try Brenton, maybe we can sort out a date for an AGM this weekend. The club is definately heading in the right direction anyway

Thanks to everyone who raced last night, the weather was brilliant, and the track held up well considering we topped it about 5 weeks back. Good close racing in all classes

Four outlaws started the night. If anyone is interested I will be promoting an outlaw only class race in the new year. Track is still to be decided looks like it will be at a track running day time meeting, but is negotiable depending on interest. The intended format will be a combination of standing starts and rolling starts. 2 rounds standing clutch start grid formation: 2 rounds moving start: final will be a standing clutch start. A letter will be going out to all clubs shortly advising them of the format and requesting any information related to Outlaw Karters being advised of such a series. It is intended that this will be an annual race and depending on club interest maybe run at a different venue each year. This event is aimed at Outlaw karts only with gear box and working clutch as per AIDIKA Rules 12.9 Single Cylinder up to and including 250cc. For the people who have registered there interest already thankyou I will contact you shortly when some details have been finalized.
Cheers Brenton T OUTLAW 19
