Do you have to race three meetings?

Do you have to race three meetings in either Junior Lights or Heavys to qualify for the South Australian tittle at Blanchtown?

Can somebody please tell me because their are one so many meetings before the tittle and many Juniors many not know about this.

I had a discussion about this the other day.. It would make sense that 3 meetings last season in Juniors should qualify a driver to race for lights or heavies this season. Would be good to get clarification from AIDKA though.

I wouldn't think you would have to race three meetings because you arn't going up a class.

And their are only a small amount of meetings before the SA Title at blanchtown. So somebody better get this checked soon.

I got in contact with the AIDKA Presdent and here is what he had to say.

To answer your question, Juniors will be permitted to race in one class only either Junior Light or Heavy, they will be required to qualify with three
meetings.

Morgan and Kadina have both been changed to education days. At this rate their wont be three meetings before the nominations for the title have to be in.

Once again AIDKA have misinterpreted a rule. The three meetings was designed for two reasons when it was introduced
1) To stop drivers just racing title meetings
2) To allow a diver to get used to more power when they went up a class.
The interpretation of the three meeting rule is incorrect by the AIDKA president. The drivers are not going up a class and they are not going up in power so they should be automatically qualified if they raced three meetings last year.

We have the same problem with KT's and 125's. If a driver competes in three meetings in the KT or 125 class they are meant to be elegible for lights, medium or heavys. The original class was KT open and 125 Open which it still states KT classes in the rule book.

I wish AIDKA would stop being a dictatorship and make decisions for the benefit for karting. We are trying to get new members and hold our old ones and decisions like this doesn't help promote the sport.

AIDKA have the power to interpret rules I wish they just interpreted them the way they were originally put forward.

(Our club put the three meeting rule in a few years ago so I do know the original interpretation).

That's interesting, because i read the reply quoted from the AIDKA president, and my interpretation of his reply is that a junior has to have raced 3 meetings (since the last SA state title) in J Juniors, before nominations close.. And that they can only run in light or heavy, not both.

I think this is the correct interpretation of the rule. In trying to keep his answer brief, perhaps the presidents reply has lost some of it's clarity ??

Nowhere in his reply does he say that a junior has to have raced 3 meetings this year in light or heavy, just that they cannot race both, and have to have raced 3 meetings. (note that even in the current rulebook there is no time limit for the 3 meetings, it doesn't say anything about the current race year.. I have always interpreted it as 3 competitive meetings since the last Title, this does need to be clarified.. [appendix A, rule 2] )

Incidentally, have you attempted to contact AIDKA to clarify this situation?

You have to race three meetings this year in either Lights or Heavies in order to qualify for the title.

I have been told that letters have been sent out to every junior explaining the situation.

Then i have to agree, that is a ridiculous interpretation of an already vague rule...
PS.. The AIDKA executive will have no choice but to re-interpret the rule if they receive direction from all club delegates. I guess it's either that or go racing early this year for the juniors.
