I've just finished gathering up enough parts to begin racing again next season, and along the way have had a few "interesting" discussions with some AIDKA members. One thing that really bothers me is the way the "technical committee" has snuck into AIDKA in the last couple of years. I can see good merit in having a technical committee, but for the life of me cannot see why they should have any power to change rules. Give an "expert" opinion on technical issues, sure, but leave the rule changes upto the clubs (ie: AIDKA members in general).
A couple of issues spring to mind. One is that apparently now if you have a suspected illegal engine, you have no right to present evidence, or have any say at all in the hearing that determines the legality of the engine. Recent events have shown the flaws in that system, and i hope it is changed asap.
Secondly is the absurd decision to allow the technical committee to change the rules on the KT cylinder in an attempt to prevent "boost ports". This type of rule change should go to the clubs for robust discussion. I believe the tech. committee's job should be to provide the pro's and con's of the decision to the clubs.
How would you feel if the committee decided to make a maximum cylinder size of 54mm for KT's or something else that would render a lot of cylinders illegal? Don't let this be the thin edge of the wedge.
Does anyone agree, disagree, or have any other thoughts?

I couldn't agree more if the tech committee wish to propose a rule change then it must be done with complete transparency providing the how's and why's and it be left up to the clubs to decide.
