:DAMB Transponder System Yesterday at the canceled AIDKA meeting Ben from AMB transponder systems conducted a presentation on a timing system that would replace quickgrid and lapscorers. The system requires a transponder to be fitted to all go karts and a loop placed under the track to record position and lap times. It is a fantastic system and would do away with incorrect lap scoring and would help the driver tune there kart with lap times. The only problem is the transponders cost $ 350 each and every driver would need one (You can change them from kart to kart) and the computer system costs around $ 9000. I think if we added the cost of the transponder to licenses for the first year and AIDKA purchased the computer system for all clubs we could move into the 21st century. I would like to get some feedback on this topic as it is about time AIDKA put some money back into the sport. They have a large cash reserve and its about time they spend some money to improve clubs. The AMB system is currently used in bitumen racing at around 95% of there tracks. So lets try and drum up some support and see if we can get this system up and running. This is a great idea. No counting laps and getting karts in the wronge postions. Hopefully we can try to get enough support and this system can be used in Dirt Karts.

The system looks fantastic and is the only way to move into the future. If AIDKA were to purchase the decoders for all of the clubs in the association, it may be even cheaper. It would however drain the bank balance. Maybe AIDKA could meet the clubs half way with the cost, like what happened with the scales.

This system is a great idea it will take all the pressure of the lap officials. Also the clubs just could up their membership by say $10 to $20 this will help with the money issue. Also I believe this system also tell you your lap time. This is great because this information is vital to all racers around the world. This system would not only make it easier for the lap officials it would also make dirt karting more professional than it already is. Also this would stop arguments over who finished first or second and I'm sure all lap officials would be very happy to have this system because it takes all the stress of them getting the karts in the right order. Thanks

"Move into the future" I totally agree with this statement.Dirt karting is getting more and more professional now with lots of clubs getting more and more members and karts getting more and more sophisticated. I agree with what kart 13 has said because dirt karts is evolving so quickly this system would only attract more drivers and make the whole sport in general be more professional. I'm sure many drivers too would also like this system fitted to all tracks because this system also tell you lap times which all drivers would want to know. This info will help them set up their karts better. And just think soon clubs might even had lap records like most professional motor sports. ;D

It would be good to have at all tracks but some coutry tracks won't be able to afford it.

$9000 is a lot of money for a club to outlay.. I remember using a system at Morgan many years ago, it worked very well. I'm not sure exactly what it was though.
It certainly takes the stress off the lap-scorers, i think it's a good idea.

If we had this system just think. Their would only have to be one lap scorer who checks all the karts on the computer and to monitor the system. Also lap scoring can get stressful if you don't get the kart order right this system is great and will eliminate all the stresses and problems with lap scoring.
