All of what you have been saying means nothing. AIDKA is the boss (like in a business) and what they say goes. If you want to have the Australian Tittle yearly you would probably have to have a petition or something in which all drivers sign with their opinion. Well personally I would like the Aus tittle yearly because I live in WA and we haven't had the tittle for six years and if it was held yearly it would have only been three years. Also I think that if the tittle was held on the Roster of: SA,WA,SA,NT,SA,WA,SA,WA,SA,WA,SA,NT,SA Many karters from WA including myself would be happy. Thankyou! Even if they were going to have a petiton it would be very hard to get ever drivers say.

It is OK to want to have an Australian Titles held yearly, in fact i would like to have an Australian Titles held weekly!
The problem is having the clubs with resources and volunteer personel that are willing and able to provide an event that meets the standards that should apply to an Australian Titles.
I think it is important to have a showcase event for AIDKA. I feel this standard would be very difficult to maintain if the titles were held yearly.

I think the titles every year would be great. Not only for the racers who wish to earn the NO1 plate but also for the sport altogether.
I think we have to face it, and im speaking of WA as its all i have raced in, that dirt karts is way behind in times. We now have a range of fantastic dirt racing karts available, and the sport is getting faster and faster. If this sport wants to move forward there needs to be incentive, and face it everyone loves to win.
If the national titles was help every year i believe that more people would be in the sport. Around every titles i notice more people out racing, and then it sort of dies down a little inbetween. If there was more people around to race then in theory doesnt that mean there will be more people to volunteer? Organising a national title is alot of work, but the more people around to help out the easier it gets.
What if say AIDKA tries it for 2 years and see how it pans out... what is there to loose? Even 3 years. The first year will be the same, the second title will be a year closer and in a differant state, so its differant people organising it, but there will be people around from the previous year to offer advice. Only a phone call away.
Overall i think we need more people in the sport, more people will help it run smoother and put more money in the club banks to keep facilities going great. How much can it hurt trying a yearly national? Isnt every plausible idea worth a shot to improve the sport...

Some good points there joogsta, it would be interesting to see the divide between the clubs that voted for and against yearly titles. If you are really keen you need to start pushing for your club to put all the positives into writing, and try to convince other clubs to support you.

Like i said in theory all that works, but as far as getting clubs to do something.. well thats another story. People drop out of the sport constantly (since my last post iv found out i wont be able to race for min of a year due to knee injury). What i think would be easier was at a few race meetings, when people fill out all their paper work just get them to sign a for or against paper. Then send away to AIDKA, and if people really want this all clubs wil do it. It comes down not to clubs as a whole but racers putting in some effort themselves. All it takes is for one person to stand up and make a quick form on their computer, print it and leave it on the table..whether people sign it or not is up to them. But again isnt it worth a shot? As a spectator now, id love to be able to watch big meetings like nationals more ofte. Would defins attract me more. AIDKA is mainly run on volunteers and to me its simple.. more competitors, more volunteers. Its up to the racers, everything is done for them to race. 90% of work done by 10% of people, to move forward that needs to change.

You say you would like to watch the nationals more often.. The problem is that it's the build up and exclusivitiy of the current nationals format that makes it so good to watch (and participate in)
To illustrate my point, imagine if the olympics were held every year.. It would quickly become just another athletics event, and would have WAY less stature than it currently does. It's the fact that it is held only every 4 years that makes it spectacular.
And sorry to hear about your knee.. Hope you have a full recovery.

Thats acully a very good point tom. something i never thought about. I guess in the long run its a balance between racers and spectators. AIDKA, and basically dirt karts has never been about racing for sheep stations so i believe wat the drivers want is wat should happen or at least be tried (within reason ofcourse) because the drivers are wat put all the money into the sport besides the sponsors. In most other motor sports a nationals is held every year, so why not us. But i also believe that if it was so easy it would have been done by now.
And cheers tom, the knee is a pain. But when its all good ill be back in my lightning and at em again haha
