Hi Rick, You have indicated that Dirt Trackers Kart Club is your club. If you are a new member there are a number of people that will be able to provide good advice. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention names on this site so will recommend you contact the President or Vice President as they will be able to assist. Also the AIDKA web site has a copy of the 2011 Rules of Racing as a reference. Rule Book URL www.aidka.com.au/AIDKA_Rules_Book_2011_final.pdfCheck out section 11 "Classes" specifically 11.1.1 *** extract *** 11.1.1 Rookie (a) Restricted to drivers as defined in Rule 5.5 or any driver less than 8 years of age. (b) Single Yamaha KT100J Engine as per Rule 11.2 with an A.I.D.K.A Approved and issued Restrictor fitted between the header and motor which all exhaust gas must pass through. No modifications are allowed to the restrictor and no additional devices may be fitted in order to improve the flow of exhaust gasses through the restrictor. 11.1.2 J Junior – Light, Heavy (a) Restricted to Junior drivers as defined in Rule 5.5 (b) Single Yamaha KT100J Engine as per Rule 11.2 Note that only the Yamaha 100J is listed. There may be some clubs that have a Supplementary Regulation that permits them to run Comers but you will need to find that out from DTKC. As the 100J is used in the Juniors the intention is that you Rookies use the 100J with a restrictor plate to reduce the power output of the engine while learning as a Rookie. The same engine is then able to be used in the Junior classes with the restrictor removed. Hope this assists.
