Welcome to AIDKA...
Had a bit of a look on Google Earth and it looks like there are various tracks in the area listed on the AIDKA web site.
It would be interesting to hear some information from anybody involved in the Carpentaria Car Club.

Hi John, We are a pretty small club up in the Gulf of carpentaria. The karts have been up here for quite a while running on a small track inside the speedway for many years until Mining activity restricted access. We gained access again after abouit three years and the speedway cars were not in town any more but many Karts had stuck around. We had a new track built in 2010 and started on the road to getting affiliated with AIDKA.
We have about 30 karts at last count with interest growing each day. Another two arrive next week and we have two more being built for sale. We have half a dozen jnr's and 125's, the rest are KT100's. We all say we are just in it for fun but I have noticed quite a few members with karts stripped and engines going out for rebuilds during the off season, so I think the competitive streak is starting to appear. No one really knows what they are doing but we are learning together which is alot of fun for us.
We are currently working hard on getting the track to standard for our track license. It is currently the wet season so work can be a bit slow at times but we are getting there. I know we wont want to build another tyre stack for the rest of our lives after this! Hopefully the weather lets up long enough to get the track in shape for an April start to the season. We hope to send a small delegation to the SA titles in may to help out and meet some of the other members of AIDKA. Maybe next year we might bring down a kart or two and wave the flag for Queensland.
We look forward to being a part of Dirt karting and you never know, we might be sending out invites for a Queensland titles in a couple of years.
Glad to see some interest in our club and hope to have a web site in the near future.

Hi "butter" and your Carpentaria colleagues,
Great to hear from you. Sounds like you are well on the way to getting your track licensed and ready to stage a race event.
I think that you will find that there will be a lot of interest in your club from the exiting members of AIDKA.
You may not have got to the stage of worrying about the race format, scoring etc but when you do I may be able to assist your Tower Officials with some of the information.
Once again great to get the update and look forward to hearing progress reports.

G'day all fellow dirt kart racers, After 2 years of hard work we now have our track licence (applause). Peter Bull came up over the last 2 days and inspected our track and facilities and was very impressed at the amount of work that we had completed. Apparently it is going to be a very fast track. (So far in a 125 leopard the record is 27.5 seconds And touching around the 100kmh. But we weren't to sure if that was fast or not because no one from up here has been to any another tracks in australia). So if any one would like to come up a test it out please feel free to make your way up the tip of Queensland. We will post some new photos and hopefully videos of the completed track and our first official practice day soon so watch this space. Thanks to all, Ben West president Weipa dirt karts

Congratulations to all your members and supporters on the hard work and getting the track licence certification. Good to see the original photos that were posted. Just a tip I think you left the sprinklers on a bit long for the lawn in the centre of the track LOL Look forward to your future information updates.

Hey Westy,
I thought the lap time was a rotax? Might have been a Leopard. No chance of a fireball doing it though!!!!!
