Does anybody know where and when the 2010 W.A. SKAA titles are going to be held? Has any club put up the venue yet, or is it still open to put forth a club to hold this years event? Unofficially, there is one club that can and would run this event, but let's wait and see if there are any answers to the above ;D Prize money will not be a problem

How many clubs in W.A. run SKAA events? I think you have some in the North West. Are there any in other parts of WA such as the South West?

Not too sure about other venues John, but yes, we're up here in the North West. I just wanted to know if anybody had "won the right" for this years titles, if not, we'd be looking at hosting it again (different venue than Tom Price as last year), I'm just tying to find out. As stated, there will be prize money if we won it.

As Far as I know there is no club in the south west. Or venue for that matter. The motorplex wants stupid kinds of money to run there and last time I heard about bunbury they wouldnt have karts. May have changed their mind at some stage, I dont know.

Thanks for the information updates. I can appreciate that some of the larger speedway centres would only be interested in the sprint cars etc and that the fees would be high. The high fee would probably be seen as relatively minor expense to somebody running a sprint car team but not to a budget wise karter.
I was actually in the North West quite a lot of years ago (early 80's) and went to Part Hedland Speedway with the Karratha Kart Club for a fun weekend. As a novelty and for some publicity a kart ran against a super sedan style car and they started half a lap apart to save the kart driver being ran over. The big super sedan sounded like thunder going around the track and was of course very impressive. The kart buzzed around like an insignificant speck bumble bee but caught up with the larger super sedan *smile*
Obviously lapping at a greater rate but just was lost on the track. I guess that is what the speedway promoters see unfortunately.
Country speedway tracks would be more likely to welcome the karts but then the travel may become an issue.
What about the smaller tracks where they run solos and junior sedans etc. Probably not there anymore due to development but tracks like Bibra Lake. Are there any around?
Out of interest is there an official WA branch of the SKAA or the North West clubs operate under the National body similar to AIDKA?
Thanks for the information it is good to know what is around.

G'day John Yeah I agree with what you're saying. I guess all can offer is what I've seen in the North West. Tom Price held last years title as such. The speedway club opened it's door for the title (though I never attended) and as far as I understood, went really well. I race here in Newman, at the Hillview Speedway club and all I do is pay a one night insurance fee of $30 (don't quote me but it's under the NASR umbrella, I think). We are simply another class racing each night with the rest of the boys. Now I'm not too sure how to go about it, but I see it as such.... Get the club to sanction the W.A. title event. Get SKAA involved to make it official and have their governing rules for the event and seeing as we run under the $30 insurance payment (again under NASR?), I couldn't see it being any problem. Biggest obstacle I see, is the travel, hey it's 1200k's from Perth alone, but if the prize money's right and towing fees given out, I can see those coming to the event. That's the plan anyhow ;D Basically, I'm asking for those in the know, to yeah, basically, let me know, so I can approach the relevant groups to make this happen. Again, if the prize money's right and the insurance is available, why not invite all and sundry, aka as the bitumen boys, AIDKA and whatever, as long as your kart comes up to specs, the more the merrier I say Your thoughts? Cheers Briggsy

NASR one day day licence are only able to be used Twice a season. If you have been paying and competing more than twice then I would question if you are insured. After that you have to complete the licence requirements. This information is available on the NASR Websyte. The way I understand it If SKAA Sanction it then it becomes a Blue Ribbon event and one day licence's will not be accepted. Cuurently you would find it difficult to have cross class association racing as each do not accept the other's licence and insurance. This has been throughly looked into in SA. To race you would need a SKAA Licence. I doubt wether you would get any fruitfull discussion from any of the associations at present.

Always the way outlaw, you just gotta love the politics in sport Oh well, I'll still go the club to find out what's the deal anyways. Like I said the NASR thing, don't quote me, I don't remember the insurance company rightly so, but it is available here on a nightly basis, for kart racing anyhow! As I said, I'll look into it and see what's the goss. Cheers for that Outlaw, appreciate it ;D Briggsy
