OK then, I'll start it off Here's my kart, 1999 Silver Arrow Chassis, and that's where it started. Basically, got it sandblasted and 2packed it in blue and went from there. Bought some Edwards wheels (all in 6") but was't 2 happy with the presentation. Luckily, the ozzie $ got good against the $US and scored some QRC beadlock Wheels (all in 6") to compliment the kart. I had purchased a vinyl cutter of ebay long ago, (stuff the sign companies) and had the world at my feet regarding decal vectors, and made my own stickers and saved a packet! So, here is my machine I built after 14 years out of karting (all beit blacktop raicing) and decided to get dirty, get sideways, and have some fun!

The start...... Then added som wings and side fairings.... Got the motor built by Ian Williams Tuning (2 SKAA rules) and mate, does it go! Thought I'd add a bit of humour (hopefully it never happens 2 anyone ) And here are those QRC wheels.... Sweet! Side view with dirt covers.... Front from side view.... Front on.... Anyways, those that might need some measurements to make the rear and side wings, or ideas how to mount them, give us a message and I'll do what I can do to help! ;D Uploaded with ImageShack.usCheers Briggsy45

Very impressive! In regards to your sticker work - have you put a clear layer over the top? I find all the stickers we make get sand blasted off pretty quick, so all our karts are very bear even though we have our own cutter. some say 'wipe down with metho first' etc but this never really helps. Have you got any other hints? Where are you running? dont think I saw this at the ozzie titles in tassie

Regarding the coating, you can hit the surface with clear gloss without to much problems. Even though I don't use any "protector" as such, I have used "White Knight" Clear Acrylic on remote control car shells I paint up for some mates. I have found it reasonnably tough against what you have mentioned, but the end of the day, racing on dirt tends to rip any decal to shreds anyhow I used to signwrite race cars for a hoby, and when I used to race bitumen, I used sign paint (notably Solver) which was brilliant in retaining it's hardness against rubbin and general stone damage. What I have done here, thanks to our great mates at ebay and the cheap supply of sign vinyl, is make and complete spares for both the left and front wings. The White base you see on the side wings is actually vinyl, not paint, so if I do get the big side rub, I can simply peel off the entire sheet and replace a prefabricated replacement. Cheap, easy and takes all bu 5 mins. Hey presto, just like new I rember using WD40 to spray all over the kart before racing, it helps get rid of dirt build up and that does help a bit too. As mentioned previously, I have just returned to racing and haven't had much chance to travel, but as always, I will be taking evry opportunity to get out and about where permissible. Living in the north west of WA, makes it a little harder to get around, simply because there's bugger all tracks around. Perth is 1200 kms from here. Briggsy45

Ha! never thought of using a coat of clear! Thanks for that and I have written it down... Also - I also own a Modified Sedan. We use baby oil to, um, lubricate the surface so its easier to clean.....(you can imagine the looks when I and 2 of the Pit Crew rock into Coles to by 5 bottles of baby oil!) We use a squirter bottle, but it needs a large nozzle. MUCH cheaper than WD40 when you use the home brand stuff!
