World Series Sprintcars Speedweek Wrap Up
Steven Caruso on the 26th of December started his speedweek campaign at Truckwork’s Speedway City. Steven came out 41st in qualifying and managed to time trial in 36th spot with a time of 13.272 on a track that had no drive left, a good achievement which made him qualify to start at the front of the heats. Steven after leading for 7 laps in his first heat unfortunately spun but still finished in 10th spot. In his second heat Steven showed us his speed and managed to win by half a lap leaving the likes of Dumesny, Cobby and Murcott all behind him.
The C Main came around and Steven found himself on the front row, Steven drove away from the rest of the field and managed to grab a transfer spot for the Sa 10 AHE Engineering Sprintcar into the B Main. Steven starting from position 17 managed to move up 1 spot to finish in 16th place.
Steven Caruso piloting the Sa 10 Hydraulink sprintcar managed to produce his best qualifying result of his career in 5th spot at Murray Bridge Speedway after and unlucky qualifying draw at Speedway City last night which saw the Renton Racing sprintcar coming out second to last. Steven showed us that when the time is right he can easily pull a time quicker than the likes of Tatnell and Dumesny which are seven time winners of the World Series. A great result in qualifying with the first lap of 11.83 and the second a blistering 11.626 saw the Sa 10 of Steven Caruso in the top 5 in a field of over 40 sprintcars. Steven started the Sa 10 Profix Port Adelaide and Salisbury Sprintcar in 9th in his first heat and finished in 9th spot. The second heat saw the Steven Caruso Racing sprintcar starting from position 10 and unfortunately broke a differential and DNF his final heat.
The qualifying result and his 9th finish in his first heat gave him enough points to qualify the HFS, Hydraulink, Renton Racing sprintcar in 9th spot, 1 car (2 pts) out of the top 8 shootout. With the track being slick Steven had some setup issues with the new differential but as the race progressed, Steven in the Couzner Electrical, Northside Wholesale Sprintcar passed Lines, Pitt, Smith and March to finish in 10th spot. A great result from a meeting which had it's up and downs, Steven recorded his best result ever in the World Series Sprintcars finishing in the top 10.
Borderline Speedway was next on the agenda with Steven again coming out 41st for qualifying but Steven managed to qualify the HFS, Hydraulink Sprintcar in 28th spot. Steven in his first heat started from position 4 but unfortunately spun but managed to pass some cars and finish in 7th spot out of 10 sprintcars. Steven in his second heat started in 3rd spot and finished in 4th spot.
Steven started the C Main in 5th spot and finished in 5th spot. Unfortunately the SA 10 of Steven Caruso will not be contesting the last 2 rounds of Speedweek at Avalon and Sungold Stadium as a screw from the butterfly on the motor came lose and was sucked in through the motor sometime during the meeting and it was only later on that night that this was found out.
The Hydraulink, Caruso Crash, Advanced Linemarking SA 10 Sprintcar of Steven Caruso will hopefully be back and racing on the 3rd at the 410 SA Title at Murray Bridge Speedway.
