AGM for 2009 ...
The Resignation of Mary Caruso as President was a shock to many to hear.
Mary has been an extremely loyal & hard worker for the club for some
years now & has seen the club through its tuff times & the
reconstruction phase of locating to Speedway City.
In many ways it will be nice to see her continue biting off a little
less & being able to enjoy her day at the races too.
The club is lucky to have had these type of people onboard & to have
hung in there, through thick & thin.
With the President position up for grabs & volunteer came forward -
The new President being voted in was to be Kevan Renton.
Now I don't know a lot about the guy as yet, but I'm sure many do as
he is a very successful business man & also involved with motor
sport racing teams.
He spoke to me throughout the day & his passion, keenness,
involvement & ideas for the club & its future are exciting to hear.
We said it was time for some of the people whom have done so much for
the club to be able to back off a little & time for some new blood &
members to take the club forward.
Kevan's direction seems to be exactly that & to unit the members,
get the club's atmosphere excited & get everyone to assist where they
can.
He spoke of getting in touch overtime with all members to chat about the
club & their thoughts & where they could help out.
Kevan spoke highly to me regarding Mary's involvement & her hard work
that has got the club into a great position.
A position that now enables the next phase of the club to improve even
further.
Although the AGM started off slow getting volunteers on board, it was
through out the day that news spread of others whom had decided to put
their hand up & get onboard to help. Without naming them all, I'll
just say the club is looking in a good position for 2010 season already.
