What are you thoughts on OMEGA Dirt Karts? What karts would you suggest are the best?

Their are 2 OMEGA karts at the Adelaide Dirt Kart Club in 125s. One is in heavys and the other lights. The one is heavys goes no where the kart slides way to much. The other which is in lights has been starting at the back and it yet to go anywhere. From what I have seen from these two karts don't buy omega they slide every where and don't handle well at all. Its hard to say how they would handle on a KT but from the karts I have seen BRK Handle the best for newbies but if you want to go fast and hard into the corners buy a Lightning.

Omega's aren't that good.
Here's how I rate the kart brands
Lightning- Service- Price- Parts- Karts A+ Brown- Good Karts but General Parts Expensive Omega- General Parts Expensive-Not Good Karts

Hi I totally disagree I run a Omega dirt chassis and seriously dispute the handling aspects as stated by kart69. I think it would come down to the way they have their karts set up, My kart handles as good as and better than the two karts mentioned. Please go and discuss your requirements with Kym Peace at omega racing karts. The two karts mentioned racing might need to go to the manufacturer for assistance with their setup. Poor handling can be attributed to all brands when the time or information is not done before racing and this across the board. My chassis has been run in KT, Open class and now Outlaw setup without any handling concerns.

Omegas are ok but are untested at the Top Tracks so I can't really comment but I would buy a Lightning or a Brown before a Omega because they have got the results.

Depends on what class you are going to run:- Brown parts are not expensive and they are the best KT frame next to the Benson. Lightnings are a good 100cc frame and thats about it and you get shit service unless you are in the click Benson twins are the best ;D The current 125cc heavy Aust 1 is in a MS Kart which are expensive but out drive anything off the corners (It pulls two kart lengths of the corners). So Omegas? I think Chook at Morgan has SA 2 but not everybody ran the 125cc heavy at Blanchtown. So it comes down to personal preference but I would contact Browns, Lightnings, Bensons and Kartbay to have a test drive first before buying anything.....

The only Omega i have driven was many years ago, but it was a similar "A" frame configuration to the one in the top pic in this thread..
I thought it was a good frame, although it understeered more than i liked it did have good drive off the corner.
With any frame it takes time and trial and error to find the best setting for any track condition and driving style..
The advantage of getting a more popular frame is that you can see how everyone else sets up their karts (seat positions etc..) and save some time by copying rather than starting from scratch.
I disagree that you get bad service from Lightnings, i've never bought a frame from them and for the most part have driven in direct competition with them, (certainly not in their "clique").. Always found their service to be professional.
Also disagree that Brown kart parts are expensive, i bought a BRK and one of the main reasons was competitively priced parts, mostly available at the track at the big meetings when i might need them.
All in all, i think you can get any kart to go well.. I've driven the following frames to top 3 state or national titles: (In 100cc/KT/125cc)
DAP greyhound AX8 Arrow Burris PRD Monaco GP2 BRK
Whatever frame you get, don't be put off by what others say about it.. Concentrate on how well you can get it to turn in to the apex, how well it holds it's line through sweepers, and how much drive you can get off the corners.
If you feel you are losing out in a particular area, find someone that knows how to set up a kart and ask them what you should be changing to improve the frame (or your driving) in that area.

Tom has said it Chassis need to be set up correctly and if the driver is unsure seek advice. I also own a PRD chassis I have found this to be very twitchy in corners but perseverance in altering set up has made handle quite well but not quite to he degree of my omega chassis. Manufacturers are helpful in giving advice on set up. They want to sell their product and see it perform well so of course they will oblige with set up.

And Brown are only good because they have top drivers you don't see no local hard battler winnig the plates it is always the top brown drivers. If you were to put those drivers in lightning karts they would still win the title. Karts these days are so similar that is doesn't matter which chassis you run as long as it is made for dirt. Can't comment on Omega but by the sounds of things I would only buy Omega if I were racing bitchemen. I also saw one on the Adelaide Presentation Day no. 10 I think the frame looks to flimsy and as soon as he drove of the track CRACK something broke. I had a look at it and by the looks of it the frame needs more bars across the back because it hooks up way to much which makes it slow of the corners.

All karts are similar as long as you have a kart and are racing well who knows what you can achieve. Chassis don't mean anything it's the driver.

Its the old driver versus chassis argument. The best driver can look very ordinary in a poorly set up kart, as does an average driver look better in good set up kart. Driver ability is only a part of a successful race package. Wheel track/ camber/castor/ tyre choice/ seating position and angle/ all are an important part of racing karts.I suppose kart are similar in so far as they have 4 wheels seat and steering an Excel frame is in noway similar to an Amos Handler chassis so to say all karts are similar is really drawing a really broad comparison

Heres one for you. Do you realize that Benson, Brown, Lewis & Omega karts are built in the SAME factory? Hmmm. Well they are. Not assembled, but the chassis's come from the same place and are fabricated by the same people. Different specs mind you, but compare the quality. All are top of the range as far as workmanship goes. Oh by the way.. Wait untill you see a "TOP DRIVER" running an Omega kart then make a judgement. Just havin my 2 bobs worth.

Benson Racing Karts - Builds the best and Welds the rest. Cut out the middle man go straight to the guru. Value for money, all the bling you do or dont want. No need for advertising, product sells it self. I can also tell you even an aged re badged Benson is capable of winning an aust/state title or capable of "out driving any thing off the corners". The Best Dirt Karts are available from Bruce Benson on 08 8345 2111. & p.s. No Strutting Required
