I was told that due to AIDKA insurance restrictions, tracks aren't allowed to open for members to practice outside of education days. In the old days, most tracks opened on the Sat. afternoon before race days for practice which was good for new members or people wanting to try something out.
I was lucky when i started my Dad built me a practice track at home, it was pretty cool to be able to drive a lot of laps before i started racing.
Probably the best way to practice is to run more meetings, and if you are just interested in verifying chassis adjustments run by yourself at the back of the pack. Just let the noms. people know you want to start ROF every race.
I found for engine testing, bitumen tracks are more useful as you get too much wheel spin on dirt to make data-logging reliable. You can run your dirt kart at Pt. Gawler, and i used to even use my dirt tyres, old dirt tyres will last surprisingly well on bitumen especially if you only do 5 lap stints. (if you get them too hot they fall apart!)

I used to run a 10/64 sprocket combo on my 100cc Reed Valve motor there and I am pretty heavy it went well at Pt Gawler You could also join the Bitimun guys at Bolivar it is possible for a fee to hirer the track for private practice. Give Kym Peace at Omega Karts to find out the info.

Hi, AIDKA cannot dictate what happens at a track outside of AIDKA insured events, The club owns the track, not AIDKA. If a club decides to allow track usage ouside of AIDKA insured events then it is the club who must accept the risk. No person involved in the day can make claim on AIDA should they get hurt, they can only chase the club.
One question I will be asking is, Does the insurance cover the track for the 24hr period? We could then allow practice session before the racing commences, eg Open the track for practice from 2pm - 4pm then start racing at 5pm?

Not quite corect butter you need to discuss this with AIDKA you will find quite a bit different story to what you think with a REGISTERED AIDKA track, Please take it up with AIDKA President for the legal interetaion. Any track that allows unofficial practice without a correct public liability insurance puts all members of that club in legal jepardy in the event of an accident happening. Ask to view the insurance your club has prior to stepping on the track at any stage.
